ABOUT

Mother Pizzeria is a neighborhood restaurant from Kevin O’Donnell, Lauren Schaefer and Kyle Stamps located at the Shops at Long Wharf in downtown Newport. Named after the starter or "Mother" used in sourdough baking, the restaurant is a place to gather with family and friends and enjoy warm hospitality, food and drink in a casual and convivial atmosphere. At the heart of our menu is the pizza which is made from naturally fermented dough using local stone ground flour and baked in a Marra Forni Neapolitan-style pizza oven. Mother was recently named one of the best Pizzerias in the USA by the Italian publication 50 Top Pizza and were also awarded three separate Best of Awards by Rhode Island Monthly including Best Pizza in Newport.

The bar program at Mother features low intervention wines, craft beers, and Italian-centric cocktails. Sourcing both locally and small production whenever possible, the aim of the program is to offer familiarity with a bit of adventure. On the wine list, Pinot Grigio can be found in the form of a skin-contact wine and on the cocktail list, a spritz infuses a red bitter with pineapple and rosemary. While the wines lean mostly Italian, the selection features producers from around the world, all by the glass, carafe and bottle. The beer list is seasonal and includes both local and imported styles in bottles, cans and draught.
